Google Merchant Center & Product Feed Submission Requirements
We set up Google Merchant Center accounts and create product feeds for our eCommerce customers who choose to go with our comprehensive Internet marketing program. The merchant center account and product feed are necessary for our eCommerce clients to participate in the “Google Shopping” program. The shopping program allows our customers active products to potentially be displayed in Google shopping program search results.
A product feed is a high tech tool that allows us to utilize API to deliver specific details, related to the products our clients sell, to Google. These feeds must be created in a very specific way. Any feed submission must conform to all Google requirements in order to qualify for inclusion in the Google Shopping program. Merchant center accounts serve as the point of entry for uploading product feeds to Google. They also provide the account owner with vital information about the product feed and product data elements, included on the feed.
Google often includes product feed photos in the search engine results pages they serve up. These product photos are becoming more and more common on SERP pages. The only way to have your products included in Google’s Shopping program is to serve them up via a qualified product feed.
