SEO – Strategies & Basics

Search Engine Optimization is a continually evolving science. The SEO playing field has historically operated somewhat like a scene from an old western movie. The fastest gun, who could push the envelope the furthest generally won the fight for organic placement. Please hear this message clearly. Those days are gone forever! Why? Because search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask have all made it their missions to identify these SEO gunslingers and to flag the sites they support who are pushing the envelope too far. The search engines, especially Google, are now quite effectively restricting organic placement opportunities for website owners who are still trying to play outside the rules. Google solved that problem last year through a major overhaul of the organic algorithms.

SEO Strategies | On-Page & Off-Page SEO Recommendations & Strategies We Employ For Our Clients

Create Search Engine Friendly URL’s – It is mission critical to ensure the search engines can easily index and process your websites URL strings via their algorithms. Our website platform and CMS admin tool are designed to allow our site owners to create unique and properly structured URL’s for each main, secondary or tertiary navigation page created.

Example: Note that the URL of this particular page on our website is: (http://flylineusa.com/seo.html) This structure ensures that the search engines are able to index both keyword phrase “flylineusa.com” and the keyword “seo.” If you view some of our secondary page URL’s you can see that we continue with this formating style, but, include a dash between our keywords after the forward slash. Example: (http://flylineusa.com/facebook-fan-pages.html). Our website platform is designed to automatically handle the formatting, you just choose and enter your page names.

.[/tab] [tab title=”Meta Tags”]Create unique Meta Tags – Your website source code should contain unique meta tags for each page. There are three Meta Tags that search engines expect to find when they index your pages. These are the: Meta Title, Meta Description and Meta Keyword tag. When we build your website, we properly format the Meta Tags to ensure they are structured following best practice guidelines. Each website we create comes with a CMS admin tool. Our CMS tool provides easy access to the Meta Tag elements. It also allows either our site owners or our web development team to quickly and efficiently add or modify Meta Tags. Updating Meta Tags for a site we did not build requires access to the clients websites source code. If you have a website CMS tool, we may be able to handle tag updates via that tool. We offer a low cost monthly SEO consulting and website guidance retainer to all of our Google Adwords clients. If you opt in for that service, we will handle the creation of updating of your Meta Tags, assuming of course that you provide us with access to your source code.

.[/tab] [tab title=”Original Content”]Content Is Mission Critical To SEO: The search engines are rewarding websites that are serving up relevant, informative and fresh new content. The website platform that we use allows us and our site owners to create an unlimited number of new secondary and tertiary navigation pages. We recommend that you serve up content that one clearly defines the products and services you offer and two provides your site visitors with a clear distinction as to what differentiates your products and services from those offered by your competitors. The more relevant content you serve up, the more keyword phrases you can organic market via your content.

Deliver Keyword Rich Content: It is not enough to just serve up content. You need to ensure that you weave relevant keyword phrases that specifically relate to the products and services you offer, throughout your content pages. We recommend that you place the most mission critical terms to your business near the top of the content page. The algorithms historically have assigned higher relevance to keyword found near the top of each page.

.[/tab] [tab title=”Heading Tags”]Heading Tags: Our content developers utilize Heading Tags to alert the search engines to the most important keyword phrases on the page. Heading Tags are not visible to site visitors, they are embedded into the content within the source code of each website page. Heading Tags are also used to create visual effects that site visitors do actually see, such as; making type bold, italicized, larger or smaller and type color selection.

.[/tab] [tab title=”Sitemaps”]Sitemaps: It is mission critical that your create a Sitemap for your website and submit that map to the major search engines. Our website platform comes with an XML Sitemap generator. Each time I clients add or update their content, the sitemap generated updates and submits the map for them.

.[/tab] [tab title=”Link Building”]Link Building: Search engine spiders constantly crawl websites, examining source code, site content and reviewing internal and external links they encounter. These spiders follow links they find to determine if more content is available to be indexed. When a spider follows an external link on a web site and is delivered to your site, you receive credit for an in-bound link. These in-bound links are considered highly relevant by the search engine algorythms and thus increase the relevance of your site in the eyes of the search engines. There is definitely a right way and a wrong way to build links to your site. We only subscribe to natural link building strategies that produce solid, highly relevant links that provide real value to your website visitors and deliver the relevance that the search engines are looking for.[/tab] [/tabs]
